  • As a junior in Providence, Douthit finished 11th in the NCAA Men's Division I with an average of 3.0 blocks per game. The following year as a senior, he improved to seventh with an average of 3.2 blocks per game, third in the Big East Conference

  •  In the spring of 2019, our 5th grade girls team entered five tournaments, winning all 5 including the state championship. We lost our first game of the year and finished the year with 19 straight wins, ending the spring 19-1


Todd Minarik

  • Played at Bartlett High School from 1988-1992 compiling a 66-17 record while being selected twice to the Border Conference All-Stars (top vote getter in Senior Year), earning a Top Performer Selection in USA Today as well as selected to the Telegram and Gazette All-Star team

  • Inducted to the Bartlett High School Athletic Hall of Fame 

  • Has coached for Swarm for 11 seasons

  • Believes it is essential to help youth players understand the value of hard work and how to persevere form one's failures to achieve one's goals as these lessons can be applied to future real-life situations outside of sports

  • Experience includes Head Varsity girls basketball at 21st Century Charter School of Gary, Lighthouse Charter School and Thea Bowman Academy as well as both girls and boys Junior Varsity at Lew Wallace High School

Thomas Smith

  • Left basketball due to significant knee injury, started coaching youth boys basketball in 1997 with his first travel team

  • Became a high school head coach in 2010 at Lighthouse College Prep Academy and started coaching a 6th grade girls travel team 

  • 2013- Switched over to high school girls at Lighthouse College Prep Academy and won 3 sectional titles in 4 years

  • Currently the Head Girls and assistant boys coach at Thea Bowman Academy 

  • Trained and coached over 300 boys and girls in Northwest Indiana, helping many kids get in college

  • Family man with 6 children- works as a Firefighter in Gary and part-time as a youth care specialist at Campagna Academy

  • Loves to see children thrive in school and the community- basketball is his heartbeat, life and love!
